The Public Works Department seeks a Transportation Planner with a genuine passion for transportation who is self-motivated and proactive — ready to take initiative, contribute meaningfully from day one, and bring energy and purpose to their work. The ideal candidate is highly organized, capable of managing multiple concurrent projects with competing deadlines, and adaptable to shifting priorities. The department values individuals who think critically to analyze tradeoffs, anticipate challenges, and develop practical solutions. This person has strong written and oral communication skills, with an ability to translate complex technical concepts and data into clear, accessible language for non-technical audiences. They offer patience and empathy to community members, fostering trust in government. Possession of a professional certification is preferred, though not required. Desired credentials include the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), Professional Transportation Planner (PTP) designation, or other relevant professional planning, engineering, or transportation certifications.Required Skills / Experience / Education
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in planning, transportation engineering, public administration, or a related field (master's degree desirable). - Three years of related staff experience. - Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License - Or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation, as required by the position.US Citizenship Required?

Salary Range
$116,431.56- $144,651.60 Annually
