DEI in Planner’s Workplace: Stories from the Non-Profit World – Free

Date/Time
Date(s) - Nov 3, 2021
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

This is third and last session in the DEI in Workplace series that will focus on the non-profit work and best practices for centering DEI objectives in planning work through substantive community engagement. Focusing on designing with dignity and knowing that community members understand the needs of their neighborhoods best, presenters will demonstrate how to empower local stakeholders who have traditionally been marginalized to take an active role in planning and co-creating their neighborhoods. This approach results in planning that is responsive to community needs and develops local leaders. Speakers from nonprofit agencies Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative, California Walks, and GRID Alternatives will draw on their expertise engaging with low-income, BIPOC, and other traditionally disenfranchised communities, and will conclude with a Q&A period.
