Hosted by ULI
Co-sponsored by APA California and Caltrans
The legacy of inequitable land use and transportation decisions has contributed to rising health and economic disparities in Meadowview, a neighborhood in South Sacramento. Empowering Community, the ULI Sacramento Health and Social Equity Task Force Report documents the culturally inclusive conversations that led to the development of a community toolkit that empowers residents to engage in neighborhood decision-making by providing guidance on a range of issues, including project funding, budgeting, site activation, and development approvals. We’ll explore this partnership with the Meadowview community and talk about the plans for community-led site activation.
Moderator: Jose Bodipo-Memba, Chair, ULI Sacramento 2019-21 and Chair, ULI Health & Equity Task Force
Panelists: Councilmember Mai Vang, City of Sacramento District 8; William Herbig, Senior Director, Urban Land Institute’s Building Healthy Places Initiative; Joanna Mack, Mogavero Architects and ULI’s Health & Equity Task Force Member; Chinua Rhodes, District 8 Commissioner, Parks and Recreation
