In recent years, the United States economy has become increasingly reliant on natural gas and oil extracted through hydraulic fracturing or “fracking.” Those in favor argue that fracking will lead us to energy independence and create jobs. Those opposed argue that the potential environmental consequences are too risky. Join AEP and guest speakers for a lively debate: What are the methods of fracking? What are the associated environmental impacts? How does California regulate the fracking industry? Can we protect the environment while harnessing the benefits of natural gas and oil resources?
