Survey: Chapter Conference Attendance

Over the last several months, Chapter leadership and the Inland Empire Section Conference Host Committee have been collaborating to plan the 2021 APA California Conference, scheduled to begin on September 11 at the Riverside Convention Center. There is significant uncertainty related to a variety of factors. While we are continuing to plan with the expectation that will host an in-person conference, we are working to identify contingencies. This includes incorporating virtual content into an in-person event, as well as pivoting to an entirely virtual conference, as we did in 2020.

We continue to monitor directives from regulatory agencies and to coordinate with the Riverside Convention Center and Visitors Bureau to gain more clarity on determinants that could affect our decision making concerning the conference. We are also interested in your current thoughts on attending the conference in person. Please take a moment to complete a brief three question survey to help us better understand your plans and what will influence your decisions.

We anticipate making a decision on the format of the conference by the end of March. In the meantime, we are moving forward with planning tasks that are independent of the format, including work on the program and sessions.

We look forward to your participation in the conference and ask for your patience as we work through these issues. As more information becomes available, we will share it with you.

Thank you,
Ashley Atkinson, AICP, APA California President
Bob Lagomarsino, AICP, Vice President for Conferences
