Planning commissioners, local agency staff, and area planners are meeting for an afternoon to discuss global climate change legislation and the impact to local planning initiatives. Keynote presentations include the effects of climate change (Emily Young – San Diego Foundation), regional & local planning under SB 375and AB 32 (Bob Leiter – SANDAG), and using technology to combat climate change (Steve Kellenberg – EDAW). Tom Fudge of KPBS will moderate a panel session of experts discussing “What actions do we take to address climate change? How quickly? And at what cost?” Following the panel discussion, there would be two breakout sessions where participants can choose to further explore topics that include policy planning, infrastructure, economics, and implementation.
