Job Description
Planner II Class Code: 1174 Salary: $96,491.20 - $115,481.60 Annually Description: Responsible for professional planning duties in current and advance planning. Prepares environmental analysis reports, zoning research findings, and planning agenda items. Disseminates zoning/regulatory information, provides assistance on complex planning matters, and oversees interdepartmental permitting coordination. Distinguishing Characteristics: Planner II is a journey-level position, handling difficult, varied, and complex professional planning assignments under general supervision. May be assigned to different divisions within the Planning, Building, and Environmental Services Department. Supervision: General supervision from the Supervising Planner, Code Compliance Supervisor, or Natural Resources Conservation Manager. Functional or lead supervision may be provided by the Planner III. Experience and Education: Two years of professional experience in planning, natural resources, water resources, or sustainability/energy field. Bachelor's degree in planning or related field. License or Certificate: Possession of a valid California Driver's License. Example of Duties: Prepares and presents agenda items for various boards and commissions. Provides technical information to the public, developers, and property owners. Conducts field investigations and comparative studies. Issues citations for code and zoning violations. Utilizes GIS software for mapping and data analysis. Assists in public meeting coordination and facilitation. Prepares comprehensive reports, letters, and other written materials. Coordinates with legal counsel for enforcement hearings. Oversees the County's street name and house numbering system. Plans and facilitates informational workshops (Sustainability). Conducts water resources-related programs and projects (Water Resources). Typical Qualifications: Knowledge of project management, budget preparation, and administration. Skill in compiling and analyzing technical information, making effective presentations, and using GIS software.
