Job Description

The Placer County Community Development Resource Agency is accepting applications for Assistant Community Development Technician and Associate Community Development Technician to fill two vacancies in Auburn, CA. Planning Division: This position will be assigned to perform duties related to planning functions and services within the Community Development Resource Agency. This position will be responsible to provide information to the public regarding applicable zoning regulations, general plan and community plan requirements, and procedures related to the permitting and land development process. It will also conduct building site plan reviews, review and approve business licenses, and prepare professional correspondences. While not required, the ideal candidate will possess knowledge and/or some experience in planning and zoning. Building Division: This position will be assigned to perform duties related to building functions and services within the Community Development Resource Agency. The position will be primarily assigned to support Building Services Plan Check operations and will be responsible for providing information to the public regarding the application, review, and issuance of building permits, answering general building related questions, performing preliminary review of construction documents to ensure plan completeness, and preparing professional correspondence to coworkers, applicants, and outside agencies. The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills and either have a background in or a willingness to learn the administrative functions associated with the acceptance, review, and issuance of building permits.

Required Skills / Experience / Education

Qualifications: Assistant Community Development Technician ($28.29 - $35.33/hour) - Experience: One year of general office support experience that involved substantial public contact. Experience related to community development activities and functions highly desirable. Associate Community Development Technician ($31.19 - $38.95/hour) - Experience: Two years of responsible permit processing experience comparable to an Assistant Community Development Technician with Placer County. Both roles require training equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training or coursework in drafting, principles of real estate, planning, construction, geometry, trigonometry, physics, hydrology, economics, demography, or related field is highly desirable.
